Theory of Ops Building 5 Line 1 Poultry and Beef Packaging
This overview is to provide a quick walkthrough of the main work areas on the poultry and beef packaging line in Building 5.
Mind the Yellow Square
Any workstations with a yellow square outline on the floor are restricted to one operator at a time. Under no circumstance can two operators stand in a workstation.
Control Panel + E-Stop
The main control is located next to the Andon light stack on the east side of the line. Follow the startup/shutdown procedure as needed.
- The andon light stack color codes are explained here.
Bird Wheel Feeder
The feeder station is where all poultry is initially processed.
- Only two team members can be at the bird wheel attachment station at a time -- one on each side.
Bird Wheel Trim Line
First line after the feeder is for trimming legs. All legs are trimmed onto the conveyer.
Leg Dropout Siloes
Trimmed legs go from the conveyer to the dropout siloes where they are boxed and taken over to a different line (Line 2).
Breast Extraction
Breasts are manually removed at the end of the feeder line and place on a conveyer
End Extraction Conveyer
Multiple team members may remove tissue as the breasts are transitioned to the end of the line.
- Final team member is required to transition the breasts into our transport boxes for weighing
Weigh Station
All full boxes must go to the weigh station, where a batch code is assigned and recorded, prior to transferring to the next station
Sorting Line
All poultry must be sorted prior to entering the final stage of packaging
Assembly and Package Preparation
All poultry is pre-packaged at the final station, before being sent through sealing.
